Armillary sphere

I guilded this armillary sphere on the cupboard doors of a built in woodwork shelf. I had antiqued the back ground of these shelves and cupboard doors, on which I guilded the sphere, in moss green. Once the sphere was guilded, I shaded it with oil colour to give the different rings a spherical feeling and to separate them from one another, leaving some parts with all its shine. I wrote in the tropics and degrees with black china ink, applied with a fine paint brush. The job has a protective layer of finishing varnish.
