Hall in velvety tempera

Here the client wanted to achieve a warm and embracing look, as if the walls were covered in velvet, but keeping a fresh and clean appearance. After giving it much thought I decided to try with white tempera saturated with powder pigments and liking the result I achieved I applied it to these walls. It looks like mat velvet but with a richness of texture that is not possible to get with emulsion paints as they are totally flat, opaque, dark, and have a heavy look. There mixture has obviously got some other ingredient but this I keep as a secret.
